An Israeli strike has hit an elementary girls\u2019 school in Minab, a city in the Hormozgan province of southern Iran, killing dozens of people, according to state media, as the immediate civilian cost from Israel and the United States\u2019s huge bombardment of Iran\u00a0comes into sharper focus.<\/div>\n<\/figure>\n

Iran\u2019s semiofficial Tasnim News Agency cited the Judiciary of Minab as saying that the death toll had risen to 85 after Saturday\u2019s strike on the school<\/p>\n

Workers are continuing to clear wreckage from the site, where 63 others were injured on Saturday, said Iran\u2019s state-run IRNA news agency. The strike is part of a wave of joint US-Israeli military attacks across Iran that has triggered an\u00a0outbreak of regional violence.<\/p>\n

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi shared a photo of the attack, which he said destroyed the girls\u2019 school and killed \u201cinnocent children\u201d.<\/p>\n

\u201cThese crimes against the Iranian People will not go unanswered,\u201d Araghchi wrote in a post on X.<\/p>\n

Iran\u2019s Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei also slammed the \u201cblatant crime\u201d and urged action from the United Nations Security Council.<\/p>\n

Separately, Iran\u2019s Mehr news agency reported that at least two students were killed by another Israeli attack that hit a school east of the capital, Tehran.<\/p>\n
